Phil baked two kinds of pies. Each pie pan was the same size. He served 1/2 of the blueberry pie. He served 1/4 of the apple pie. If each pie had 8 pieces to start, what fraction in eighths of the apple pie did he serve? How many more pieces of the blueberry pie than the apple pie did he serve? --Please help!

Phil served 2/8 of an apple pie because in order to have a common denominator, you need to multiply 1/4 by 2/2. 
Phil served 2 more pieces of blueberry than apple pie because 1/2(4/4) = 4/8, and 4/8 - 2/8 = 2/8.
